Summary: Maine Medical Center’s campus expansion is a $512 million investment over a five-year duration including the new east wing expansion. The expansion includes the addition of two floors to the East Wing and relocation of the helipad structure to the new 7th floor roof. Laser scanning was used to document the exterior façade of the lower east wing and the newly erected upper level structural steel. The collected scan data was leveraged to create a combined Revit model of the existing façade and the field erected steel. The MEP, siding and window subcontractors utilized the Revit model to rectify discrepancies between the field model and the original design model minimizing crew down time and field corrections to prefinished assemblies onsite.
